Ivan Vyrypaev
What is a play?
Ivan Vyrypayev’s master class “What is a play?” is a fascinating dive into the world of theater, business, science, art and philosophy. During the workshop, Ivan analyzes the essence of a play, revealing its significance and role in modern society. Through examples from various spheres of life such as business, science, art history, and philosophy, Vyrypayev demonstrates how things are created, analyzing the process of creativity and its impact on various aspects of our lives. This master class may be of interest not only to the professional theater community, but also useful for all those who want to better understand
the creative process and its application in different areas of life. Today, in modern theater, the director is the author of the play, therefore, directors do not stage plays, but stage their own author’s vision of plays. Therefore, the audience does not have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the dramaturgy of either the Great Authors of the past or the modern ones. The absolute majority of theater workers and spectators do not know what a play is and what it consists of. This knowledge is almost lost. The play is a special art form that has almost lost its power today. Today, the only places where they really work with plays are on Broadway or West End, that is, where there is commercial theater. Ivan Vyrypayev has worked in commercial theater all his life and believes that commercial theater is the best place for real art, so his lecture is for those who want to be relevant, modern, fashionable and at the same time comprehend life and learn about themselves!
