Contrary to the traditional Stanislavsky approach, Georgian theatre traces its roots to the vibrant Georgian folklore, from sacred rituals and spirited dancing to the communal spirit of Supra, the traditional Georgian feast. Guided by a series of dynamic physical and creative exercises, participants will immerse themselves in the essence of different practices and its enduring impacts on the acting style of Georgian theatre.
Data Tavadze is an outstanding director from the young generation in Georgia. He was born into a theatre family in 1989 in Tbilisi. He studied acting and has worked as a director at the Royal District Theatre since 2008. He stages productions that combine classical dramas and myths with contemporary issues, receiving awards such as the »Sandro Achmeteli« prize. His work Mother War won the »European Drama Competition« and Talking About Borders premiered in 2015 in Zittau. His production Prometheus / 25 years of independence opened the »Radar Ost« festival at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in June 2018. For the history festival »WAR OR PEACE«, Data Tavadze developed AFTER PARTY / AFTER LIFE at the Maxim Gorki Theatre.
